WHY have a link that says “Jesus”?

Good question! There are several reasons:

A Christian Agency
Our staff and volunteers at Ottawa Innercity Ministries are believers in Jesus. He is the unifying force in all we do. We serve together with the same motivation – Jesus.

Lasting Life Changes
You can put someone in housing or employment or a program, but this is not transformational change. We believe that only Jesus can reach into the deep recesses of the heart and bring significant, life giving change. He is the one who created us, who knows us intimately, who cares for us with a perfect love and who is able to do exactly what we need.

A Binding Force
We believe that Jesus is the best motivator for change, just as much (or more) in us as in our friends who call the streets their home. He binds us together, gives us wisdom to help us speak an appropriate word, and helps us carry the burdens that come to us all. And, he gives us grace to help us understand the burdens that others carry.

Unity in Diversity
We are supported by many different Churches of almost every denomination. I cannot remember one time when there was a division in our volunteer sector about denominational distinctives. Instead, we leave our differences at the door, roll up our sleeves and ask, “What can I do? How can I serve?”
Jesus has decreed that it is by and through His Church that the love of God should be shared with the world. With all her blemishes and faults, the Church is still the hope of the world.
