A Hot Meal

Though Easter may be a distant memory for most of us, OIM recently had the opportunity to host an Easter meal for our friends on the street. As one of the people by the door, welcoming people in, I had the chance to see just how many people we were able to bless as men and women came to enjoy conversation and a delicious, hot Easter meal. We served so many, at some points we had to tell people to wait because the capacity in the building was full. While in some ways this saddened me to see how many people needed this meal, it was also encouraging to see how the Lord was using us to bless others.
One thing I was struck by was the difference in how our friends came in versus how they left. While some were excited as they went down, most were subdued, quiet, and dejected. However, as they left, they were full of thanks, often leaving with big smiles, praising the cooks for the delightful meal. Seeing the joy on these friends' faces was a blessing to me and a reminder of how blessed I am for the family and Easter meals I can have. Thank you to all who donated food and their time to make this meal happen!
