Acts of kindness

In a season that often feels rushed, pausing to help someone in need can seem inconvenient. Yet, for Christians, this simple act carries profound spiritual significance. Scripture reminds us that kindness is not just a good deed—it’s an expression of Christ’s love.

When we help someone on the street—whether offering food, a warm coat, or simply a listening ear—we mirror the compassion Jesus showed throughout His ministry. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Every act of kindness becomes an offering to God Himself.

A small gesture can spark hope in someone’s heart. You may never know the full impact of your kindness, but God does. Sometimes, a simple act of generosity opens the door for someone to experience God’s love personally.

Serving others deepens our reliance on God. It teaches humility and gratitude, reminding us that everything we have is a gift meant to be shared. In helping others, we grow spiritually and draw closer to Christ.

Helping someone on the street is more than a good deed—it’s a divine opportunity. It’s a chance to live out the Gospel, to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a hurting world. And in doing so, we receive blessings far greater than what we give.

At OIM, we are here to help you help others.  By making a financial donation, a donation of food, clothing or even your time, we can help you change this world one person at a time.
