For several weeks now, I have been humming or singing the chorus:
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.
They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Teach me, Lord; teach me, Lord, to wait.
Sometimes we feel exhausted and weary and are in need of an energy boast. If we wait upon the Lord, He will renew our strength. We can spread our wings and soar like the eagles do. I was reminded of this a few weeks ago, on a Sunday morning, while going to make my coffee before heading to church; I realized that there was a bird in our fireplace. This little bird was so afraid in this dark fireplace and of us as well that he would not come to the opening of the fireplace. My husband and I worked for almost on an hour trying to catch this little bird, without harming it. Eventually, we were able to wrap the bird in a blanket and I brought it outside and let it fly. We both stood outside on a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning and watch this little bird soar through the air where it belonged.
At times we can feel weary and faint, however, we have the reassurance that God strengthens us with His power and He renews us. If we look to God, we can rise up and soar above our circumstances, just as this little bird was able to rise from that dark fireplace and soar through the air, we are able to do the same.
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
