Fall

Here we are in September. Fall is upon us.

Everyone looks forward to the fall for different reasons. Some of us look forward to long walks with the crunching of the leaves beneath our feet. Some look forward to the various spiced pumpkin treats you find at all the coffee shops. For me, it’s the changing of the leaves and watching God’s masterpiece unfold.

However, not everyone enjoys the fall. With the onslaught of fall, that means that Winter is around the corner. That means snow, ice, and frigid temperatures. Now don’t get me wrong, some people actually enjoy the winter. But for those on the street, that is not a great time of year.

With fall comes the need for warmer sleeping bags. Heavier clothing or being able to dress in layers is a necessity. What do you do when you do not have those? You can’t carry around two sleeping bags all the time. One for the summer and one for the winter. We need to remember that those on the street are already carrying everything they own.

For this reason, it is important for OIM to be able to have resources on hand to pass along to those in need. How can you help, you ask? Well, that’s the best part. While you are cleaning out your old winter gear, you can pass it along to us to help those in need.

There are men, women, youth and the elderly who all need warm essentials each day. That sleeping bag from 3 or 4 years ago, when you went on a winter camping trip and vowed never to do it again, is now the time to take it out, air it out, and bring it to OIM to help the less fortunate. What a win/win solution!

Help us to help others!
