Making the most of our lives

There is a verse in the Bible found in Matthew 25:40 that says this; “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” This verse never fully touched my heart until I started my job here at OIM because that is exactly the work that they do. They have volunteers and staff who are here week after week pouring into our street friends, giving them hope when they need it, providing them with resources, food and friends. I personally have met some of these people and been so touched by their stories because of how real they are and some of the trials they have had to face or are currently facing.

When we walk down the streets and see people sitting there begging for money our automatic reaction most of the time is to keep walking. I now look and think differently. These people are real people who have had serious hardship that has completely changed their life. Sometimes if you just take the time and talk to them you will be surprised at what they have to say. So who are you helping and what are you doing to make a difference? I don’t want to get to the end of my life and realize I have done nothing but I want to make the most of it now and help where I am needed. We are called to “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” Matthew 28:19a. This is my challenge to you. Who are you pouring into and what are you doing to bring a positive influence into someone’s life?
