Monday evening was our first Innercity Veterans Outreach & Support (IVOS) evening event. It gave us the opportunity to welcome veterans to enjoy comradeship and share a meal of pizza, wings, lasagna, garlic bread, and salad.
One of the veterans kindly brought the movie “Midway” and it was enjoyed by all.
We had the opportunity to welcome a new vet from the Veterans home. I took time to talk with him and found out he had a stroke and is confined to a wheelchair. In light of his disability he appreciated the company because he shared that he spends a lot of time alone.
This was a great way to share with each other and help with isolationism.
I am looking forward to our next event in November
