Well, we have finally been able to thank our volunteers in person. COVID presented some real challenges as to how we served our Street Friends but also as to how we were able to say thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers.
On Saturday December 3rd we invited our volunteers to drop by and share a couple of hours with us. It was the first time since 2020 we were able to do this in person. Some 30 volunteers showed up, including a number of recent graduates of our Street Engagement Training, and of course all our staff and a couple of members of our Board of Directors came as well.
We played some games, listened to some Christmas music and best of all we listened to a couple of testamonials from our Street Outreach and Door Outreach volunteers. These testamonials were amazingly touching because they told not only of how they impacted our friends on the street, but how our friends impacted the lives and views of our volunteers.
The next gathering we will be having is to celebrate Christmas by providing a meal. For OIM, Christmas comes on January 24th at Knox where we will be serving our Christmas Dinner. As usual we hold our Christmas Meal a little later so that hopefuylly our friends can partake of additional Christmas dinners offered in the community!
