The past couple of weeks I’ve been busy uploading art onto the auction site and entering descriptions of what the art means to the particular young artists that created it.
Looking at the beautiful artwork that has been created and seeing the passion that these young people have for art has reminded me how God has given all of us different skills, talents, and passions. Some of us are musical, athletic, artistic; some understand mechanical engines, how things work; some of us are creative, and some of us are technical.
Many of us at times forget that we are special creations. We remember Paul’s words in Ephesians, that we are God’s masterpiece (Eph. 2:10), but we feel as if it doesn’t really apply to us. It might apply to other people, but not to us. It can be easy to become envious of other peoples’ abilities rather than use our gifts in harmony with the gifts of those around us. “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body” (1 Corinthians 12).
“God has also given each of us different gifts to use… if we can serve others we should serve. If we can teach, we should teach. If we can encourage others, we should encourage them. If we can give, we should be generous…” (Romans 12:6-8). God has given us our abilities to lift each other up.
