Changing Seasons, Constant Need

As Ottawa slowly shifts from winter’s cold grip into the uncertain warmth of early spring, many of us welcome the change with relief. For our Street Friends, however, this season brings a mix of hope and hardship. Moments of possibility paired with very real risks. And during this transition, your support becomes especially powerful.

The warmer days ahead do offer some comfort. Heavy layers can come off. Frostbite becomes less of a daily threat. For many of our Street Friends, spring brings the chance to reconnect, to move with less pain, and to feel—if only briefly—a sense of renewal. These are small but meaningful victories that your generosity helps make possible.

Yet the challenges are far from over.

As snow disappears, the cold dampness of early spring sets in. Nights remain dangerously chilly, and belongings are soaked or ruined by months of winter weather. Many experience worsened health conditions, loneliness, and the emotional weight of having survived another season outside without knowing what the next one will bring. This is the time when mental, physical, and spiritual needs often rise sharply.

Your support continues to help Ottawa Innercity Ministries show up consistently during this fragile period, providing warm clothing, dry socks, hot meals, and meaningful connections. It allows us to walk with our Street Friends in the “in‑between” seasons when their needs may not be in the headlines but are no less urgent. Because of our generous donors, we are able to remind every person we meet that they matter, they are seen, and they are not forgotten.

As the season changes, we invite you to help change someone’s day. And perhaps even their future.

Thank you for standing with us, and with our Street Friends, when it matters most.
